Drive Motor 'B' Inverter Overtemperature – Phase V. The code applies to hybrid and electric systems where the inverter converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) to power the electric motor.

OBD-II (EN): Inverter Temperature Exceeded Phase V

Code P0C15 indicates exceeding the permissible temperature of the inverter (phase V) for drive motor 'B' in hybrid and electric vehicles. The cause may be a problem with the inverter cooling system, damage to the power module, or the temperature sensor. Due to the presence of high voltage, diagnosis and repair should be entrusted to an authorized hybrid/electric vehicle service center.

Symptoms

• Hybrid/electric system warning light illuminated on the dashboard • Significant loss of drive power or vehicle entering fail-safe mode (limp mode) • Limited or no acceleration capability • Elevated motor or inverter temperature signaled by the onboard computer • In extreme cases, the vehicle may stop and not restart

Possible causes

• Malfunction of the inverter cooling system – clogged heat exchanger, damaged coolant pump or thermostat • Degradation or low coolant level in the inverter circuit • Mechanical damage or wear of IGBT transistors/power modules in the inverter • Vehicle operation in extremely high ambient temperatures or under prolonged heavy load (e.g., towing) • Damage to the inverter temperature sensor or wiring harness (measurement error leading to false alarm)
