Traction Motor 'A' Phase U Current Error – fault in the hybrid or electric vehicle powertrain system. The controller has detected an incorrect current value in phase U of the main electric motor.

OBD-II (EN): Hybrid/EV Drive Motor A Phase U Current Error

Code P0C10 signals an abnormality in the phase U current circuit of the main traction motor in a hybrid or electric vehicle – this is a serious fault that can completely immobilize the electric drive. The most common culprits are a damaged inverter or a problem with the motor winding, although a faulty current sensor can also be the cause. Due to the presence of high voltage (up to 650 V DC), diagnosis and repair should be entrusted exclusively to a certified hybrid/electric vehicle specialist.

Symptoms

Reduced drive power or complete loss of electric drive; hybrid system warning on the dashboard (e.g., 'Ready' not lit); vehicle may enter fail-safe mode (limp mode) with drastically reduced speed; internal combustion engine may not start or run incorrectly; inability to regenerate energy during braking; possible vibrations or jerking during acceleration.

Possible causes

• Faulty or shorted inverter for the electric drive motor • Open circuit or short circuit in the traction motor stator winding (phase U) • Faulty phase U current sensor (Hall sensor or measurement shunt) • Damaged wiring or connectors between the inverter and traction motor • Inverter overheating causing phase cut-off (thermal protection)
